Our Story

Happy Futures Support Specialists Ltd is a family run business, it opened in 2011. The business was set up to provide quality person-centred care. We started supporting our first four individuals in Whitby in 2012. Our initial base was in the old archive room at the rear of the United Reformed Church on Flowergate.

In November 2013 our first Registered Domiciliary Care office was opened at Falsgrave Community and Resource Centre in Scarborough. About 12 months later we opened our first skills centre in Scarborough.

In 2016 we opened a two bedroomed respite service for those individuals with complex health needs and in 2018 we moved our offices and skills centre to a new location at Cayton Low Road. Due to Covid in 2020 we unfortunately had to rethink our service provision and, as a result of the pandemic, sadly our skills centre and respite centre closed.

During the time when we were unable to support individuals in the community, we changed the focus of the company by remodelling our services to build back better and we slowly developed new and exciting initiatives and services for individuals using the framework of positive behaviour support.
Happy Futures has been graded Outstanding by our regulators The Care Quality commission, we are proud to have an Autism accreditation from the National Autistic Society. We are a multi award winning company, winning Regional and National awards.

In 2023 we joined the Yorkshire Care Group. This group has been established as a vehicle for a number of companies to work together in the Yorkshire area on promoting best practise.
Networking within Yorkshire Care Group allows the companies to pool resources and gain greater access to external providers and products.
The focus of the whole group is innovation and making a difference at local and regional levels.
In 2024 we are planning to open a new skills centre in Scarborough for individuals to attend as part of their support at Happy Futures or by funded contracts from local authorities and Independent Care Boards.

Gail Pinkney

Gail Pinkney

Group Human Resources Director

I have worked across many sectors of the British industry, but predominately across the retail and Social and Healthcare sectors. Following a degree in Business Management and post graduate in CIPD, I knew my passion was in Human Resources across all aspects of the function, whether that be Recruitment, Learning and Development, to Employee Relations – all of which are transferrable across many organisations.

I had my first exposure to the Social Care Sector, working with a leading Care provider at the time in 2006 as a Divisional HR Manager, working with Area Managers and Home Managers across a region of Residential homes that supported individuals with learning disabilities.

The pull of the Care Industry had taken hold so I then went on to work with one of the UK’s leading private secure Mental Health, brain injury and residential providers for nearly 10 years as a Regional HR Business Partner, working closely with Hospital Directors and Functional Leads.

Having now taken on the role of HR Director, I feel privileged in working with amazing passionate people whose common goal is to continue to provide first class support to individuals with complex needs.
